My Father’s Brothers – a feature documentary film chronicling what my dad and seven other survivors went through in a horrific battle in Vietnam and what they still go through today because of it. From directing to writing to producing to designing the poster, this was the ultimate passion project for me.

Film Synopsis

What began as a routine Wednesday in 1966 became a day that would forever change a young Army captain and the soldiers in his company. In My Father’s Brothers, the filmmaker embarks on a journey to understand the lasting impact that an ill-fated battle had on his father and the surviving soldiers in his unit.

The filmmaker is on a journey to understand what his father went through during the Vietnam War. During this process, his father invites him to meet men that were in his unit during a horribly tragic battle on June 29, 1966. Called Operation Yorktown, commands were passed down to the father’s company, which would have dire and irrevocable consequences on the soldiers in that unit.

Using interviews and archival footage, the story explores the human elements of an intense, day-long battle through revelatory testimony from eight soldiers. With an inferior strategic battle position and outnumbered almost 10 to one, the platoon that made contact is almost completely massacred. The survivors’ stories are of tragedy, resourcefulness, heroism and remembrance. And the bond between them, fifty years later, still holds true.

The filmmaker has the opportunity to understand how his father and each of these men he commanded, all from diverse backgrounds, survived and then went on to wrestle the demons that were made that day.

The documentary is now available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and other outlets.
